MACOMB Alexander. The Practice of Courts Martial. Manuscript for the works published in 1841 in New York by Harper & Brothers. 86 pages bound, 4 pages not bound.  Alexander Macomb, Commander-in-chief of the United States Army from 1828 to 1841, wrote these works following a general request by the army to clarify recent modifications to the procedures at military court. It was devised and perceived thereafter as an instruction manual to better understand the workings of Courts Martial.  Along with 27 letters of correspondence between the editor, multiple sectors of the American army and Macomb between 1839 and 1841 regarding the publication of his works. The letters by Macomb are his draft copies and not the originals which were sent to the recipients.
