One side presents the complete series of 100 ôban tate-e prints entitled 小倉擬百人一首 (Ogura nazorae hyakunin isshu, "Imi­tations of one hundred poems by one hundred poets of Ogura"), a collaborative series executed by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861), Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) and Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865)

The other side comprises 99 ôban tate-e prints forming various triptychs depicting genre scenes mainly inspired by the Genji monogatari, predominantly by Utagawa Kunisada, with works by Utagawa Kuniteru (1808-1876), Utagawa Kunimaro (1830-1870), Utagawa Toyokuni I (1769-1825) and Utagawa Kuniyoshi.

Overall wear to the surface
Original covers with protective sheets. One of the protective sheets detached. The other partly stitched to the original cover, but currently fragile and about to detach
Edges of the covers worn
The covers show wear from use, but the rest of the work is in a good state of preservation, without major defects
Each print is backed with a thicker supporting paper forming the album structure
