Provenance: E. F. Gersaint, Paris, 4 March 1748, lot 200 (succession of M. Angran, vicomte de Fonspertuis auction), then Palais Galliéra, Paris, 10 December 1971, lot 10 (Louis Guiraud collection auction). The fawns were catalogued as ‘Chine, Kienlong period’ in the Palais Galliéra catalogue.
Label under one of the bases: "n°200, une biche et un cerf d'ancienne porcelaine faits pour être pendants, et placés sur des pieds en bois sculpté et doré. Vendu: L.130: Ces 2 morceaux sont très particuliers et peu communs peuvent être mis au rang de ceux qui méritent considération dans ce catalogue de la collection de Fonspertuis en M. DCCXLVII 4 mars 1748 Gersaint expert"
