1 platinum-palladium print showing a portrait of Sir Bijay Chand Mahtab, Maharaja of Burdwar (Bardhaman, or Burdwan), standing in an interior, carrying a talwar and dagger, 28x20 cm. A similar platinum-palladium print, attributed to Bourne & Shepherd, dated 1903, is in the Royal Collection, inv. no. RCIN 2916649

1 silver print showing a portrait of Sriram Chandra Bhanji Deo, Maharaja of Mayurbhanj, standing in an interior, leaning on a table, holding a sword, 28.5x23.5 cm (print). A similar print, platinum-palladium, attributed to Bourne & Shepherd and dated 1903, is in the Royal Collection, inv. no. RCIN 2916670. A similar print was sold at Bonhams, London, 13 October 2006, lot no. 229
1 silver print showing a full-length portrait of Prabhu Narayan Sing, Maharaja of Benares, standing in an interior, holding a sword, signed "Prabhu [...]", the back of the cardboard on which the print is pasted mentioning the date 29 November 1929, 29x20 cm (print). This Maharaja was Knight Grand Commander (GCSI) of the Order of the Star of India, and wears the collar, medal and mantle. He was also Knight Grand Commander (GCIE) of the Order of the Indian Empire and wears the medal.

Cet ensemble de plus de 90 représentations photographiques ou peintes de l'Inde au temps du Raj britannique est le troisième et dernier volet de cette vaste collection déjà proposée lors des ventes de septembre et décembre 2022. Éclectique, elle nous offre un aperçu des diverses techniques photographiques employées à cette époque. Certaines photographies sont par ailleurs attribuées notamment au studio Bourne & Shepherd ou à Lala Deen Dayal, photographes renommés de l'époque.
