Portraits of rajas and nawabs, set of 5 prints, 1 on albumen paper, 3 silver and 1 platinum-palladium, India, 20th century, comprising: 
1 full-length portrait probably on albumen paper of Muhammad Ahmad Ali Khan Bahadur, nawab of Malerkotla, against a white background, adorned with decorations and carrying a sword, 28.5x23.5 cm (print). This nawab was a Knight Commander (KCSI) of the Order of the Star of India and wears the collar and medal. Photo credit on the cardboard on which the print is glued: "Fred Bremner, Silma + Lahore". Provenance: Bonhams, London, 13 October 2006, lot n°226. The print is dated ca 1920 
1 portrait of Taley Muhammad Khan Bahadur, nawab of Palanpur, standing in an interior, leaning on a sword, 29x24.5 cm (print). Photographic credits on the cardboard on which the print is pasted: "K. L. Saiyed. State photographer, Palanpur", and signature of Taley Muhammad Khan on the same card. Provenance: Bonhams, London, 13 October 2006, lot n°167. The print is dated ca 1918

Cet ensemble de plus de 90 représentations photographiques ou peintes de l'Inde au temps du Raj britannique est le troisième et dernier volet de cette vaste collection déjà proposée lors des ventes de septembre et décembre 2022. Éclectique, elle nous offre un aperçu des diverses techniques photographiques employées à cette époque. Certaines photographies sont par ailleurs attribuées notamment au studio Bourne & Shepherd ou à Lala Deen Dayal, photographes renommés de l'époque.
