The work entitled T1972-H17 does nothave a traditional title but a temporal data like all the paintings in hisproduction, in order to give no limit to the viewer's perception.
It was in the 1970s, at the height ofhis international recognition that Hartung began to paint his last and mostexperimental works. In constant renewal, he makes or modifies tools such asvine sprayers, rakes and rubber whips that replace the brush. After being thefounding father of Lyric Abstraction, he became in this last period one of thefirst gestural artists of Action Painting.
His palette, characteristic of the PostPop Art period, is bright, acidic, and only reinforces the power of the visualimpact and the vitality that emanates from the canvas.
Hartung did not believe in automatismbut wanted to bring out the emotions of the soul with control, even in thespeed of gesture.
