Our Lady of Perpetual Help, icon on panel, Italy 19th century, authorised reproduction of the Cretan school icon housed at the Sant'Alfonso of Liguori church in Rome, gilt frame painted with flowers, label on the back of the panel: Nicolaus Mauron with 2ecclesiastic red wax seals authorising the copy, 52x42,5 cm (72,5x84 cm including the frame) Brother Nicolas Mauron (1818-1893), born in Switzerland, became Superior of the Gallico-Helvetique province. In 1855 he was elected Superior General and Rector Major. After the unification of the Redemptorists, he became Superior General of the entire congregation in 1869. He died in Rome in 1893.
