At the beginning of the century Cartier produced Jewellery and objects of Indian inspiration, they where favored until the 1930's, when Jacques Cartier visited India for the first time in 1911 he became the initiator for the exotic trend. This connection between Cartier and India was expressed in various areas : many Indians costumers placed orders and influanced the style of Cartier, gemstones were imported from India espcially the Mughal engraved emeralds CARTIER ET L'INDE and finally a number of ancient and modern jewels were collected to be reassembled according to the fashion of the time. Important Mughal jewelry and Indian objects selected by Cartier were sold to the Victorian and Albert Museum in London in the 1920s. This “Cartier Indian Style” marks the 1920's and 1930's style as evidenced by the numerous references found in fashion magazines from the time.

Mounts: Overall condition is good according to the age of the piece.
Presence of oxydation trace and thin scratches of normal use

Hallmarks: 'Cartier' / French importation mark (stamped on the numbering making it difficult to read) / '892' (at the back of the screws)

Gems: overall conditionis good. Presence of natural fractures and cavities reaching the surface of the emeralds.
