A scroll-handled red-figured terracotta krater, Apulia, ca. 330 BC, decorated on side A: warrior in armour with his horse in an Ionic naikos, his sword at his feet and a dog under the horse, on either side of the temple, two naked young men and two draped young women make offerings and rituals with a coffre, grapes, sandals, tambourine, phiale, fan, mirror and wool. On the neck: quadriga of galloping horses driven by Helios (?), Side B: two naked young men and two draped young women make offerings and rituals around a funerary stele. Imposing palmettes of fillings under the handles. Duck heads in relief emerging on either side of the handles. Mascarons in relief and winged deities painted on the scrolls, h. 79 cm

Note: The decoration of this vase is undoubtedly in the style of the great vase painters of 330 BC, such as the Painter of Darius. However, the arrangement of the scenes and many stylistic details such as the massive use of red highlights, the warrior's face and the frieze of posts in the ground line in the naikos, the stylobate style, the rosettes in the filling palmettes, strongly recall the work of painters such as the New York Painter 17.120.240, the Copenhagen Painter 4223, the Gioia del Colle Painter, and above all, the Baltimore Painter.
