Portrait of Maharaja, set of 4 albumen prints, India, 19th century, comprising: 
1 portrait of Tukojirao Holkar II, Maharaja of Indore, seated in an interior, holding a sword, accompanied by another man holding a chauri, 27.5x23 cm (print). This Maharaja was Knight Grand Commander (GCSI) of the Order of the Star of India and wears the collar and medal. Print pasted to a cardboard box with an inscription identifying the Maharaja pictured, bearing the date 1877 and attributing the print to Bourne & Shepherd. A similar print, attributed to Bourne & Shepherd and dated 1875-76, is in the Royal Collection, inv. no. RCIN 2114238
1 portrait of Mahbub Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VI, the ninth Nizam of Hyderabad, standing in an interior, leaning on a book, holding a sword, 27.5x21cm (print). A similar print, with a much tighter framing than ours, attributed to Bourne & Shepherd, dated 1887, is in the Royal Collection, inv. no. RCIN 2107582

Certificate of authenticity issued by ART 75 Galerie Yves di Maria, Paris, 13 February 2007, attributing the print to Bourne & Shepherd, dating it 1877 and describing it as "rare épreuve probablement réalisée en 1877, à l'occasion du couronnement de la reine Victoria Impératrice des Indes" (a rare print probably made in 1877, on the occasion of the coronation of Queen Victoria Empress of India)
