Oval gold and enamel snuff box, Paris, circa 1770. The lid is centred with an enamel portrait, presumed to represent Marie Antoinette, within a border of friezes ornamented with garlands of white beadwork, red berries and green foliage. The engine-turned ground, decorated with a rose motif, is overlaid with translucent blue enamel. The sides, cast in relief with crossed ribbons, flaming torches and arrows, are separated by blue enamel panels decorated with closed white enamel fluting and rosettes. 7.5x5.7 cm, gross 160g

Scratches and surface marks to the enamel miniature. Small chips to several red petals.
Impact mark and chip to the blue enamel on the side.
Underside of the base:
A few small losses to the red petals.
A PLJ hallmark with a crown (similar to the hallmark of Pierre Lucien Joitteau) is present underneath the lid and on the rim.
