Bust of a Man in the Antique Style
Sold for : CHF 4 800

Nestled in the heart of Lavaux, a sublime region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lutry property majestically overlooks the lake.
Set within grounds of nearly 15,000 m², it comprises four residences amid Italian-style terraced gardens: the manor house, the guest house, the staff house and the caretaker’s house…
Enjoying breathtaking views, the property was entirely renovated in the late 2000s by a foreign businessman who had settled in Switzerland for his retirement.
Everything was designed with the utmost luxury, elevating the estate to the rank of one of the finest manor houses on the Lake Geneva arc.

Pair of Louis XVI period candelabra
Sold for : CHF 5 000

The interior design was carefully conceived to achieve perfect harmony. Each object finds its place in a subtle blend of 18th-century furniture and works of art alongside modern pieces crafted by the finest artisans.
The furniture and works of art were mainly acquired from leading Parisian antique dealers and at the Lausanne Antiques Fair, or custom-made by distinguished French cabinetmakers and ironworkers, as was the case for the garden furniture.
The pool and wellness area, spanning more than 300 m², was carved into the hillside. With its view over the lake, it is furnished with Chinese, Thai and Japanese art (lots 249 to 352), the oldest pieces of which date back to the Han dynasty, 2nd century BC.
It is a perfectly accomplished example of luxury, where architectural design and decoration come together to create an ensemble of superb quality.

The owner had a passion for copies of paintings by great Old and Modern Masters.
Like some of the world’s greatest fortunes, ministers and heads of state, he travelled to Avenue Matignon in Paris, to Galerie Delamare, as was fashionable in the 1990s, to acquire works certified as “unique copies” of Paul Gauguin, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, and others produced by one of the great copyists of the Louvre.
These copies after the Masters sit alongside original works by renowned regional Swiss artists, such as François Bocion and Edmond Bille. Also worth noting is the famous original triptych lithograph by Francis Bacon, displayed on the first floor.
Bernard Piguet and his team had the pleasure and privilege of bringing the entire contents of this property to auction on 8 September 2019. It was a true success.
